Summer Update Release Delay
6/7/2012

Salutations all. It looks like our release date for the Summer Update will be slipping a bit. While we do not have exact information just yet I can tell you that that the delay will not be extensive.

Why is the launch being delayed?

Glad you asked! This update is by far the largest, most intensive update ever for Age of Empires Online. To say that it is extensive and complicated would be an understatement.  In short, it is practically a rebuild of the entire game. While we are all excited and anxious to get this into your hands we also want to make sure it’s ready. This means taking a little extra time to make sure everything is working as intended before we push it live.

Please note: Because of the sheer size of this update we expect the downtime to be significantly longer than previous updates. The game will be offline, entirely, for approximately 36 hours. (Have I mentioned how big this update is?)

During the downtime we have planned a number of events.  We will be streaming a little PvP from our test servers so everyone can get a sneak peek at the upcoming changes.  We will also be streaming a quest or two to show off the new consumables and vanity.  We will have code giveaways, Q&A’s with designers and devs and more.  I will be posting a schedule of events to our blog on Monday, June 11th.

We apologize for any inconvenience and frustration this delay may cause. AOEO Trajan will be posting more information tomorrow so stay tuned.

Thank you for your understanding.
